1. Quality of service
Moving companies offer full-service or self-service options. In full-service, the company handles packing, loading, and unloading. In self-service, the client handles packing, loading, and unloading, leaving the company to drive. Self-service might be cheaper; full-service is always more convenient for interstate moves. See full-service movers and long-distance moving.
2. Licensing
States license their movers. If you are from Alabama, for instance, check for a registration number from the Alabama Public Service Commission. Each interstate moving company should obtain an operating license from the U.S Department of Transportation (USDOT). The USDOT number shows the company operates within federal guidelines and helps avoid moving scams.
3. Professionalism, reputation, and fit
Evaluate professionalism from the first interactions: how they sound on the telephone, whether they are polite, whether they answer questions. Check online reviews. An unsatisfied customer is most likely to leave an honest review. See Liffey reviews. Consider whether the company can transport all your items at a go, whether they have a truck that can accommodate your belongings, and whether they can handle sensitive items. Check availability.
