10 Solid Moving Supplies to make life easier

Bubble wrap, boxes, and paper

Bubble wrap is for fragile items such as glass and porcelain. When stacking, place them on their edges, not flat. Wrap with the bubble side facing inwards. Bubble size should match the size and weight of the item. Packing boxes hold the items — see moving boxes and decluttering. A comprehensive assortment of sizes helps. Liffey can supply boxes. Tapeless boxes suit short-distance NYC moves. Wardrobe boxes accommodate hanging clothes as large as two feet. Packing paper can wrap glasses or fill empty spaces so delicate items do not move around.

Labels, mattress bags, tape

Packing labels keep you from hunting for a toothbrush. A mattress bag keeps the mattress clean; ask beforehand whether the company provides it. When getting tape, the cheapest tape is probably not sticky enough. Start taping from halfway up the box, tape the sides where flaps meet, and for heavier boxes tape in a criss-cross manner. Tape dispensers make the process faster and can be reused. Ask the Liffey team what supplies they have. Get a quote.
